Where do I get puzzles?
Down & Across doesn’t come with puzzles of its own. It opens crosswords in the Across Lite .puz format, which many newspapers, puzzle sites and independent constructors offer.
How do I add a puzzle?
- Tap Add puzzles in the library and choose .puz files from Files or iCloud Drive. You can pick several at once.
- Or tap a .puz file in Messages, Mail or Safari, then choose Down & Across from the share options.
Where are my puzzles stored?
On your device, in the app’s folder. Open the Files app and go to On My iPhone (or On My iPad), then Down&Across, then Puzzles. Your progress and time are saved inside each file, so copying a file somewhere else keeps where you left off.
Handwriting isn’t working on my iPad
Handwriting recognition needs a one-time download of the handwriting model. Connect to the internet and open Down & Across. After that, it works offline.
How do I back up my puzzles?
Your puzzles are included in iCloud Backup and computer backups along with your other app data. You can also copy the Puzzles folder out of the Files app at any time.
Is there an Android version?
It’s coming soon.
